About Chris Percy
“We listen, act, and transform.”
Chris believes that therapy is a relationship between the client and therapist that offers the opportunity for processing and reflection, where he has the privilege of listening and providing a fresh perspective. As a multiculturally competent counselor, Chris strives to create a brave, nonjudgmental space where clients feel encouraged and celebrated in being their genuine and authentic selves. His hope is to work collaboratively with clients to empower them to identify and implement meaningful changes in their lives.
In sessions, Chris integrates the neurobiology of horsemanship and trauma-informed approaches to better understand communication, coping mechanisms, emotional regulation, relationships, and more. He has extensive experience working with complex and acute trauma, anxiety and depression, behavioral patterns, and life transitions.
Before becoming a counselor, Chris worked as a high school Spanish teacher in both day and boarding school settings. His passion for learning about students and helping them navigate the emotional challenges of daily life ultimately led him to pursue a career in mental health counseling. Chris enjoys working with adolescents and quarter-lifers, as well as those in later stages of life, including individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, and first responders.
Outside of work, Chris and his partner manage a small hobby farm with Icelandic sheep, honey bees, chickens, and a flourishing garden. He enjoys walks with his yellow lab while savoring a good cup of coffee. A favorite quote that guides his outlook comes from John Muir: “I only went out for a walk and concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”
